Steering and Braking
Purpose:
Design Constraints:
Components:
- To optimize the control and dynamics of the vehicle. The steering and braking systems must meet safety performance requirements for stopping, turning, and riding stability. Also, they must be robust and ergonomic.
Design Constraints:
- The vehicle must demonstrate stability by traveling for 30m (98.4 feet) in a straight line at a speed of 5 to 8 km/hr (3-5 mph).
- The vehicle must be able to turn within an 8 m (26.2 ft) radius.
- The vehicle must come to a stop from a speed of 25 km/hr (15.5 miles per hour) in a distance of 6.0 m (19.7 feet).
Components:
- Wheels
- Bicycle Fork
- Steering Mechanism
- Brakes
- Brake Actuator
