Frame Design
Purpose: The frame must be robust to support the vehicle and protect the driver, yet lightweight to provide maximum efficiency and speed.
Realistic Constraints:
ASME dictates that the frame must contain a rollover protection system and be able to withstand two loading situations:
· 600 lbs applied downward 12° from the vertical.
· 300 lbs applied at the shoulder height of the rider.
Components: Must be able to support the following components.
· Steering components
· Brakes
· Drive train
· Fairing
· Energy storage device.
Additional Components:
· Shelf for carrying groceries
· Outriggers to stabilize bike while not in motion
